Regardless of whether for my baby, for someone else, here’s a list of all the BEST doctor’s I’ve personally had experiences with and what they’ve been like! I hope this list helps someone =) I am considering whether I should include details of my negative experiences. Leave me a note in Comments if you think I should!
I used to come see Dr. Ann Pei as a kid and I have to say she’s awesome. The most patient and kindest doctor ever. Super warm. Unlike a lot of celebrity doctors, she doesn’t have a lot of social media presence because she’s been practicing for over 20 years. The only reason why I haven’t taken my baby to her is because the wait is SO LONG. I remember I went back once a couple years ago and despite having an appointment I still had to wait 1 and a half hours outside. I think it’s because she keeps taking people in even though she really doesn’t have time to see everyone... she tries to squeeze them into her schedule. There are a ton of toys in a small area without an air purifier and lots of coughing and sick kids... so if I take my baby here I’d probably wait somewhere else like in a café downstairs... but in my opinion, the area around her office in Causeway Bay (Sogo ish area) is crowded, polluted, and not exactly great for babies (unlike Central Building in central where there’s a café just downstairs and you don’t actually have to take your newborn walking in the crowded jostling streets for long periods of time to find a not-so-crowded coffee shop). I might just take my baby here anyway coz I do trust her more than anyone.

Maybe I’m being silly telling the world about my amazing OBGYN. But seriously he’s the best. I’ve been told that he is the only doctor in HK who has a ton of experience delivering breech babies naturally. Apparently he’s the only one in HK who can do it. He is incredibly careful, patient, and kind. If I were a bard I would sing his praises. He delivered my breech baby by C-section but despite my being pretty stressed out by the idea of not going naturally, he was just downright amazing. The midwives at the hospital told me later in confidence that he’s actually the best doctor in hk for C-sections in their opinion. Apparently he does the best job, he’s the most careful, and he does the cleanest work. I was referred to him by a friend whose baby had her umbilical cord around her neck. All the doctors said they had to do a C section (cut mommy open) to deliver safely, and immediately. But Dr. Ghosh did a full analysis and said it was fine to deliver normally. He delivered their baby calmly and their baby girl has had no complications and has grown up healthy and strong. I had seen about 4 doctors throughout my pregnancy, and Dr. Ghosh is by far the best. By. Far. But be prepared for long wait times. He doesn’t rush his patients like others do, and he double checks his work. So you might be waiting a long time for the one before you. During my pregnancy, I was reading a highly recommended (funny) book called “This Is Going To Hurt” by Adam Kay. It was in equal doses funny and traumatising... and a must read for everybody. Suffice to say that the most careful doctors are the ones you want. One small mistake sometimes could mean the loss of a life.
