Enter through a Chinese Lunar Gate to Hutong, where low ceilings and long hanging red lanterns emit a faint crimson glow. Here, little round tables made of dark wood—rich in subtleties of designs from old homes in northern China—encourage large groups to hold intimate conversation over a cozy ambience.

Another dish with a peculiar name is Mapo Doufu, which means “pockmarked grandma’s tofu.” It’s made of silken tofu and minced meat drenched in fermented black beans, chili paste, and garlic greens. Try this dish is San Xi Lou where they serve a spicy and pungent version of Mapo Doufu that goes perfectly well with steamed rice.

Feng Wei Jui’s brilliant gold motif shines as bright as the restaurant’s two Michelin stars! Sichuan cuisine takes the spotlight, but Hunanese food and handmade noodles play special roles on the stage. Relish in Mandarin Fish Fillets in Chili Oil, Steamed Carp Fish Head, and Old Beijing Pan-fried Pork Dumplings at the red and gold embellished restaurant at StarWorld Hotel.
