Approximately 60 kilometers away from the city of Seoul in the direction of Chuncheon, Namiseom Island or Nami Island is a paradise famous for its tree-lined roads, gift shops and camping sites. This island was one of Winter Sonata's filming spots led by Bae Yong Joon and Choi Ji Woo, and it continues to be a popular destination for tourists. Apart from its magnificent landscape. Namiseom Island is a haven that celebrates art through pottery and glass making classes. Visting travellers will also be delighted by exceptional exhibit halls at UNICEF Eco Stage, Ryu Hongjuin World Folk Instrument Exhibition Hall, and Sculpture Park Happy Garden among others.

"Namiseom Island or Naminara Island" BEST TIME TO VISIT: During Spring or Autumn season is the best time to visit South Korea if you're fond of Cherry Blossom as it gives you more chances to witness its full bloom. A nice weather is an add-on to that. For Spring, best time is last week of March to second week of April while last week of October to second week of November for Autumn. TIPS: 1. What to wear? Among other tourist destinations in Seoul, you should wear thicker clothes when you visit Nami. Obviously, due to its forest-like setting and its location is beside a river, the temperature here is colder. Once you get off the bus, you will ride on a Ferry to reach the place. Expect a cool breeze while you're in Nami. 2. The Restroom The so-called "call of nature" might be inevitable. So better if you go on a restroom first cause' it's a long way before you'll be able to come back to entrance once you started walking and took pictures along the way (approx. 45min back & forth). Few steps from the entrance, restroom is on the right side. 3. You have an elderly with you Rental of wheelchair is available there, an enclosed stall on the left side upon the entrance is visibly there (not sure if it's free of charge because our tour guide back then didn't ask a fee from us) HISTORY: Naminara Island was formed as a result of the construction of Cheongpyeong Dam. It is a half moon-shaped isle, and on it is the grave of General Nami, who led a great victory against the rebels in the 13th year of the 7th king of the Joseon Dynasty, King Sejo. Described as a half-moon shaped island, Nami Island is mostly famous for being one of the key filming locations of the hit Korean TV drama "Winter Sonata." On the tourist map, it even shows you the exact spot where Bae Yong-joon and Choi Ji-woo had their first kiss on the show! We'll make sure to visit Nami Island again either during the fall or winter next time. I'd really love to see the Gingko and Maple trees turn golden yellow 😍
