FROM TINDAHAN TO KAPIHAN! ☕ Three siblings from West Fairview in Quezon City transformed their fathers’s old sari-sari store into a coffee shop last January 8, 2021. “During lockdown, three of my siblings lost their jobs. I am an OFW care worker dito sa Japan together with my brother. Dahil sa hilig kong magkape, naisip ko buksan ‘yung nabulok namin tindahan nong panahaon namatay ang aming ama,” Justyn Emthree told The Philippine STAR. Emthree asked her brother, who is also working in Japan, if they can start the coffee shop business together. “Duon ko binuo ang siblings goals namin tatlo dahil walang kakayahan kapatid ko nasa Pinas financial kami ng brother ko ang nagshare at ‘yung kapatid kong lalaki na nasa Pinas ang naging way para maipaayos namin siya,” she said. Emthree said the idea and the theme of the coffee shop came from her since she is a coffee lover. “Typical na sa akin nakakita ng mga rustic cafe design so para maiba siya dahil nga maliit, gusto ko siyang bigyan ng konting kulay. Baka kasi mas mapansin siya pag makulay dahil sa mga light. Hinango ko sya sa western “Hard Rock Cafe,” na nakikita sa Las Vegas na futuristic design dahil sa mga neon lights,” she added. She and her brother in the Philippines attended seminars to know more about the coffee business. “Ang aim namin ay makatulong sa iba na magbigay rin ng trabaho. Kahit pa isa o dalawa ang kunin namin, makakatulong pa rin ‘yun sa mga nawalan ng work,” Emthree said. They spent P100,000 to renovate the place and buy the essentials needed in the shop.
