BEHIND THE WAITINGS We are now living in a Generation where everything is instant. Instant noodles, Instant coffee, fast food chains becoming all around, Instant relationships, instant love, and even instant sex. Because we live in a fast-paced world driven by advanced technology with almost everything at the tip of your finger, it’s not easy to cultivate Patience, and waiting becomes a burden. For me Waiting is excruciating, agonizing, and painful. I still remember those days when I was a Bank Personnel, and the easiest way for me to go to my workplace was by riding Light Rail Transit or LRT. 2015 onwards the most crucial time for a lot of commuters like me, wherein we need to fall into a very long line and wait for not just an hour but 2 ½ hours to board the train because it cannot accommodate the overwhelming number of Passenger, the 45 mins - 1 hr. of travel time became 2-3 hrs., It's horrible! However, time went by swiftly, and year after year, scenario after another pushed me to situations where I had no choice but to wait. All of us have a dream that we want to achieve, a thing we want to possess, and a Love that we want to have. It all requires waiting. The more we hated waiting, the more we needed to wait. It will always be a part of our life. God allows it for many good reasons. Although it doesn’t make sense in our eyes, He has a purpose behind all those waiting’s. Here are a few of them. 1. WAITING REVEALS OUR TRUE INTENTION- Waiting has a way of bringing out the best and worst in people. People who don’t have good motives won’t wait long because they’re not interested in the commitment. They are only interested in short-term success. On one hand, People with good intentions are committed to the waiting journey. God allows waiting to test us, not just to find out how we’ll do, but to show us deep down what is really in our hearts. 2. WAITING BUILDS PATIENCE – We often hear the word “Patience is a Virtue”, whenever we are in the scenario of Waiting. it means the ability to wait for something without frustration. Patience in waiting for small things leads to having Patience for bigger things. The Bible says in Luke 16:10 10 “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much”, If we can’t wait for God to do a small thing, we certainly can’t wait for something bigger. Patience is the key because when the right time comes, it will be totally beautiful and worthwhile. 3. WAITING TRANSFORMS OUR CHARACTER- Waiting is also God’s way of rubbing off the rough edges of our lives, it refines our character. Transformation happens in the waiting room. It helps us learn the valuable lesson that just because a Dream is delayed, doesn’t mean it is denied, It is the driving force to hope and to trust God all the more even though we have yet to receive what we long for. 4.WAITING DEEPENS OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD – Waiting amid difficulties developed our relationship with God. We call a specific person a “BEST FRIEND” because a friend stood in the trenches with us during the lowest point of our life. Maybe this is what the scripture means when it says “A friend that sticks closer than a brother (Prov. 18:24). God didn’t leave us in the heat of battle. It is the intimate times where we can talk to Him about our pain, sufferings, and everything under the sun, The moment where we can fully understand that He is doing something great. We may not always understand why we have to wait, but God will never let us wait without Him. 5. WAITING WILL STRENGTHEN US – I remember the Parable of a Bamboo Tree. Like any plant to flourish the Bamboo Tree, also requires nurturing – water, fertile soil, and sunshine. In the first year, there are no noticeable signs of development. In the second year, again, no growth above the soil. And the third and fourth, still no signs. Patience is tested and we begin to wonder if all our efforts will ever be rewarded. Until the fifth year- Voila! It Grows, there is a visible growth finally, and the Tree grows nearly 80 feet in just 6 weeks. What happened to the first four years? Well, the tree had developed a strong unseen foundation to sustain its life as it grow. Just as a house needs to have a strong foundation to last. The same principle is true for people, success, and your speaking career. People, work towards their dreams, build strong character while overcoming difficulty and challenges, grow the strong internal foundation to handle success, while those who run after the “quick buck” are unable to withstand unearned sudden wealth. Remember the old saying: “Out of adversity comes opportunity.” With God, we can wait out the storm and see the sun breaking through the clouds when we trust in Him. The longer we wait for something, the more we appreciate it when we get it. Always remember that all Greats are worth the wait. #seasonofwaiting
