Grande Santa Cruz Island is one of the most beautiful beaches I ever visited. Just a few minutes travel by a motor boat from the city, you will be able to experience a pink beach without leaving the country. What makes it pink? It is because of the crushed red corals known as organ pipe corals (Tubipora musica) that blend well with the sand, making it look like color pink especially on broad daylight.

Want to see a pink beach? Then head to the Great Santa Cruz Island in Zamboanga to play in the blush pink sand of its beach. It took a great deal of coordination with the Zamboanga tourism office before we could travel to this pink beach because we needed to have military escorts accompany us while we toured the island. They explained that extra security is needed because it is located near Basilan. However, upon seeing the pink coralline sand and the clear blue waters of Great Santa Cruz Island, the effort was well worth it. My friend and I even had the chance to go scuba diving in the island but some of the corals were blasted by dynamite. That's a shame since this pink beach was named as one of the 21 best beaches in the world by the National Geographic in 2017. The pinkish hue was created when powdered remnants of red organ pipe corals mix with the white sand. There is a curfew on the island so we had to leave after a few hours of frolicking on the pink sand and playing beach volleyball.

According to Nat Geo, the Great Santa Cruz Island is one of the best beaches in the world! Famous for its pink sand beach, the pinkish tinge actually comes from crushed red organ pipe corals mixed with the white sand. A short boat ride from the main island will take you to the stunning sand bars of Little Santa Cruz and to the Mangrove Forest where I got to hold a stingless jellyfish!!! To get to Santa Cruz Island, you'd have to avail a day-tour package organized by the City Tourism Office. Otherwise, you won't be allowed to go to the island by yourself at all for safety reasons. There are also no accommodations available, just cottages and pavilions good for large groups. Reservations are required!

Another local brand I love to wear is A Guy’s Den. For my daily wear, whether at home or at the mall, I turn to my muscle shirts and shorts from A Guy’s Den. Check them out on Instagram and Facebook!
