Repair food. Have some. Congee is one of the reasons why Chinese people age so slowly.

Since it first opened during World War II, Tasty Congee and Noodle Wantun Shop has been known for its fresh, delicious noodles and swift food service. You might be surprised to find a sea of patrons inside, but it only goes to show how popular the shop is among locals and non-locals in Hong Kong.

I like wanton in this congee place, it’s very classic and simple.

Braving the queue to Tasty Congee & Noodle Wantun Shop will be worth it as soon as you savor their crowd-favorite congee and wonton noodle soup! The brand is run by the son of Ho Chiu Hung (founder of Ho Kung Kee), and he pays homage to his father by keeping the same soup goodness from the original shop! They also have a scrumptious Beef Hor Fun (牛肉河, beef and rice noodle stir-fry), for the days when you prefer a dry noodle option.

Lots of father-son rivalries in Hong Kong that give birth to great restaurants. Amongst my frequent favourites is where I go for congee. Tasty Congee is still my favourite. They have good fried Beef Hor Fun as well. They expanded since I was little and they’re now even in IFC mall, on the 3rd floor of the airport express station in Central. That’s probably the most convenient location for you, but the original branch was in Happy Valley, and I grew up eating the congee there.

Awesome pots of Fishball Noodles are all you’ll ever find under On Lee Noodle's roof in Shau Kei Wan. Slurp the richness of their noodle soup with fish balls that are strong in flavor. To complete your meal, take a sip of warm lemon tea for better digestion.

Many food enthusiasts swear by the Fishball Noodles at Tak Cheong Noodle for many good reasons. The noodles are very spongy and easy to chew and fish balls are authentic and flavorful. A bowl of Fishball Noodles is better with a side dish, so make sure to sample their homemade fish skin if you have a chance.
