Best of Boracay

Roxas City, San Jose

Boracay will always be one of my favorite places! I'm so happy that they decided to rehab the island; and I'm stoked to see it again. 😍

Frendz Resort & Hostel Boracay

Roxas City, Philippines • Recommendation •

Dare I say it—Frendz is the best hostel in Boracay! It's in a sweet spot in the middle of Station 2 (near all the buzzing spots) and Station 1 (which I think has the best stretch of beach). They recently renovated so they have a separate area with newer rooms with great airconditioning, lots of electrical outlets, and spacious shower areas. They also just added a pool! The best part about Frendz though is the people. Right when we arrived, the staff made us feel at home. Join the island hopping activities and the free pasta night to make new friends!

A Boracay favorite for a no-frills international meal! Great for brunch, especially if you want to start your day on the sunny side. Try their baked goods! ☀️

Talipapa Market

Roxas City, Philippines • Recommendation •

D'Talipapa is a wet market where you can buy fresh fish, crab, shrimp, etc. Scour the stalls to grab some of your favorite seafood, and take them to one of the nearby eateries to have them cooked just the way you like 'em (grilled, buttered, in a soup—they can do it all!). 😋

A box of calamansi (Philippine lime) muffins is a must to take home (or eat when you get back to your hotel)! The treat is soft, dense, and tangy; it's quite a unique taste. They sometimes run out muffins in the morning but ask the lady in the counter if they're making any more (they often do) then just come back later. 👍🏼

Alta Vista de Boracay

San Jose, Philippines • Recommendation •

Great place to stay, especially if you'd rather stay away from the buzz of White Beach which is about a 20-minute (free, only until midnight) shuttle ride away. The infinity pool is amazing, granting you an immediate view of the more forest-y part of the island but still giving you a peek of the beach beyond. The best part about Alta Vista is their semi-private spot on Puka Beach!

Puka Shell Beach (Yapak Beach)

San Jose, Philippines • Recommendation •

Peaceful stretch of soft white sand on the northwest side of Boracay. Waves get a bit daunting (compared to White Beach, hold your horses), so it's best for people who like to get into the water. Sunbeds are cheap; all you have to do is buy a drink—a mango shake costs around PHP 150 (about USD 3)—and you get the space for the whole day!
