3 New Bugis Street, Singapore

For a lot of people, Bugis is a shopping destination. For me, Bugis is where I find my Pineapple Tarts! 🤤

Wanna shop but with low-budget? Burgis Street will help you with that. Don't get too overwhelmed at the first store you go to because you can find cheaper in other stores.

Bugis Street is the city’s go-to spot for affordable buys. It can be overwhelming at first, as the street has 600 or so shops that are always thick with excited buyers. The best strategy is to take a deep breath and look around before purchasing anything. Note what you want to spend your hard-earned cash on, then shorten your list over a snack at one of the street’s food stalls. Tourists come for souvenirs while locals scour for the best deals on electronics. Here, you’ll easily score a pair of jeans or three watches for about SGD 10 (USD 7.50)! Fans of Korean fashion and cosmetics should head straight to K.Street on the second floor.

Bring home some keepsakes from your time in Udaipur! Hathipole Market is a treasure trove for handicrafts and other folk arts from the region. Snag miniature paintings, decorative statuettes, and a pair of embroidered slippers (mojari or jutis)! Pichhwai and Phad, religious scrolls depicting hero-gods, are an extremely popular souvenir from here. Put your bargaining skills to work for a fair price—some merchants like to jack prices up for foreigners!

When night falls, the town’s Main Road is closed off to cars and taken over by a flea market! Locals sell all sorts of handicrafts from their tents, often arranging their wares over the tarpaulin-carpeted street. You’ll find something to bring home for everybody, whether it’s an embroidered bag, a silk scarf, or paper lanterns! On the more exotic side, a few stalls offer tortoise shells, tiger teeth, and reptile-infused liquor. Shop at your own discretion, though. It’s best to check your country’s own regulations and local customs policies before making any purchases!
