This painting is based on a photograph I took outside the apartment I used to stay in years ago. This was one of the several birds held captive, in a place where they cannot freely fly. It was a heartbreaking sight, especially after I read that a life in captivity is often a death sentence for these birds. They are a part of the balance of nature, where there is strong interdependence that the removal of even the tiniest life form may later on endanger the entire structure.
