So often our precious pooches are cooped up at home, bored out of their minds and without much legroom. We may be happy on our smartphones in this era of staying at home, but little Fido has no such luxury. With the growing popularity of breeding dogs in Hong Kong, there is a long-overdue need for proper pet care in the city. Treat your best friend to a day out at one of these doggy parks or to a fancy spa day experience!
As the biggest dog park in Hong Kong, Wan Po Pet Garden should be at the top of your list. There are designated areas for different needs: one for small dogs, one for large dogs and one for all dogs to mingle. It’s a utopia for the extraverts who have been itching to play tag with their friends, as the park is surprisingly spacious for Hong Kong. There are even pet activities and mini-playgrounds to keep them fit, so rest assured that your pup won’t run out of things to do. If you come by car, you’ll be pleased to know that there is ample parking nearby.

A gorgeous space for animal- and coffee-lovers, this branch of Elephant Grounds allows dogs to sit in the outdoor area while diners enjoy their vegetarian delicacies and lavish cappuccinos. The coffee shop is animal-friendly, which you’ll immediately feel from the parade of petting and general warmth your four-legged friend will receive. The location is directly next to the road and highway though, so it may not be ideal for the more nasally-sensitive breeds.

Stanley is a wonderfully stylish and dog-friendly area in general, with some of the eateries in the plaza being very accommodating to pets. Beef & Liberty is happy to host you and your dog, and will even provide water and snacks for them! The plaza has little metal hooks where you can leash your dog, but this is not recommended if you are staying a while. A much better idea is to attach the leash to a leg of your chair so that you and your mutt can enjoy the same breezy scenes from the comfort of this restaurant. As a bonus, Beef & Liberty strives toward reducing packaging waste by being one of the first restaurants in Hong Kong to install water filters, instead of providing glass and plastic water bottles—even more reason to pay them a visit!

Always jam-packed with other dogs and their owners, Clear Water Bay Country Park is ideal for letting your pet socialize with other pets. The park comprises a small snack kiosk, a BBQ area, a kite-flying zone, many hiking trails, and a couple of pagodas. Although you will witness overzealous canines doing zoomies on the grassy plains, the rules require large dogs to remain on leashes. Nonetheless, remember that some owners are rather insouciant about their pups causing trouble!

Bring the whole family on a camping trip at Tai Long Campsite! The area is perfect for everyone, including your prized pets! The location requires either a hike or a boat ride to reach, so make sure your doggy is in shape for a trek or a bit of a splash. When you get there, there are water outlets and restaurants that will cater to their needs. If they are too excitable, however, this might not be for you. Since there can be other dogs there, sometimes wild ones, it is best to take precautions.
