I first went to the Isle of Man two years ago and wish I had had access to Lemi then, so as to remind myself of where to revisit. Now a long weekend at this fascinating island off the West coast of England and in the middle of the Irish Sea awaits.
An amazing piece of Victorian (19 th century ) engineering, go and see the Laxey Waterwheel in its stunning location. An iconic Isle of Man sight.

Fabulous food at my niece’s wedding reception at Noa’s bakehouse. Will try it again for a ‘normal’ meal on my return trip to the island. Breakfast or brunch.. all the locals at the wedding recommended it. Important update Noa’s have now opened a second restaurant ( see my separate recommendation ) on the quay side in the stunning old market hall and I think the previous building is now used more simply for baking.

Free and very good introduction to the island. Sections on art, on history ( Celts, Vikings, smuggling, internment during World War II, and the rise and fall of the ‘holiday island’)

You cannot leave the Isle of Man without having a kipper bap at Moores traditional smokery. Yum! Situated in the extremely picturesque town of Peel.

Lovely situation on sea front with magnificent views especially if the weather allows you to sit outside. Good quality cafe food with generous portions. English breakfast, toasted baguettes etc.

I quote my brother because he is more lyrical than me ‘Yet another great meal tonight. You never fail to impress. The naans were even lighter, the meat even more succulent, the rice even fluffier and the waiters even funnier. Thank you for a great evening’

This is the new excellent Noa’s on the quayside. Same excellent food as in earlier location but much more impressive building and views from the giant windows

A very spacious somewhat old fashioned pub on the quay. Food straightforward and substantial. Chicken wings with nachos and chili con carne as a ‘side’ would have been enough for two of us. I foolishly ate it all as it was very very tasty . Very friendly waiter. Oh and everyone was drinking gin from a very extensive gin menu.

I have not been here yet but I have eaten their food as they supplied glorious platters and cakes for a family christening. So I can heartily recommend. Highest quality.
