Mount Mayon is one of the active volcano in the Phillippines located in Albay, In Bicol Region. It is known for the "Perfect Cone Volcano" for it's perfectly symmetrical shape and is treasured in the Philippine mythology.
A friend told me about this volcano. It seems straight out otherworldly and amazing! Due to its rich sulfur content the electric-blue fires can be seen at night. Apparently the entire area smells a bit of rotten eggs. Don’t care. Let me go!
Last eruption: 1999
It worth the sweat when you climb at 4am to see this amazing view. A guide is a must, the trek is dangerous in the dark. I'm having a short of breath while climbing and become frustrated (not really fit). It cold up there. A warm jacket is necessary. You need to climb down to see the blue fire. And wear a gas mask cause the sulphur smell.
Owakudani is an active volcanic zone set around a crater created by Mount Hakone's eruption from several thousand years ago. Sulphuric fumes still fill the air, so you're given a wet disposable towel to avoid inhaling too much of the stuff. The main reason I wanted to come here was to try the kuro tamago (Owakudani black eggs), which are eggs that are hard-boiled in the area's hot springs. It's believed that eating it adds seven years to your life! 🥚🔥
