Glorious sunsets, glistening temples, and warm smiles are just among the many things that make Thailand golden
Bangkok
Gong xi fa cai! My favorite Chinese restaurants in BKK.
Din Tai Fung’s xiaolongbao (Shanghai-style dumplings) are rightfully world famous. The opening of the first London branch caused quite a stir last year! The good news is whether you are in Taipei, Shanghai, London or Bangkok, the soup dumplings taste just right. This branch is conveniently located on Thong Lor, and it’s always pretty quiet. My favourite is the spicy dumplings in XO sauce.

Decent dim sum in a convenient location.

Some of Bangkok’s best Chinese food. A small but high quality dim sum selection. Always busy so be sure to reserve. Pricey for Bangkok but reasonable compared to similar quality in Hong Kong or Shanghai!

On the top floor of central embassy, this small restaurant serves tasty chinese style baos. the crispy chicken is good. Snag a sofa by the window and they'll bring your food to you.

Chatting with the chef at this newly opened Chinese fusion restaurant in Thong Lo, he complained it was very hard to find authentic Chinese food in Bangkok. The opening of 3SAN won't change that fact - this is definitely Chinese inspired fusion food rather than something straight off the streets of Beijing. But what it is, is delicious! Excellent prawn crackers, baos, dandan noodles and pork cheek. It's a small menu for now, but they open all day with sets for breakfast and lunch and a la carte for dinner. Friendly service and cold beer.

This is not Chinese food, it's American-chinese food! Expect dishes like General Tsos chicken, Orange Chicken, Egg Rolls and Crab Rangoon! Large portions are good for sharing, and it's the kind of food that survives delivery well (delivery via Foodpanda, lineman and gett is available)

So obviously Ippudo is a Japanese not Chinese restaurant! However it was Masashi Hirata, the executive chef of Ippudo in New York who popularized selling gua bao in the West. Gua bao are the tasty steamed buns with pork belly originally from Fujian. As well as ramen, the Ippudo at J Avenue does a good Bun Platter!

If you want to splurge for Chinese New year try fine dining with a view at the Bangkok Marriott Surawongse! Their signature roast duck is one of the best in Thailand.

If you have trekked all the way over to iconsiam the good news is that Chinese restaurant Hongbao has a branch there. Good dimsum and roasted pork.
