Hit the ground running so to speak when we landed in Barcelona, just dropped our bags in our Airbnb in Avinguda Diagonal and had a few minutes of nap before venturing out again for our Dinner & Wine tour on our first night in this vibrant city a year ago today. La Esquinita was only the first of three restaurants we will be experiencing that night and our family of 6 was heady with excitement about the prospect La Esquinita is known for its pintxos ( pronounced pinchos) which literally means thorn or spikes. The Resto cum bar specializes in these delightful snacks which originated in the Basque region. Per Javier our guide and sommelier, 6 pm was still early by Spain’s standards. The pintxos we will be having are just starters to tide us over. There was unlimited Cava but we were told to choose 3 pintxos only. I chose the roasted bell pepper, the cod and the one with the poached pugo with chorizo paste. They were all incredibly scrumptious and filling. I think I drank my cava too fast. Was already a bit tipsy when we left La Esquinita haha Good thing it was a walking tour. The cold air and the exercise sobered me up quickly 😂🥂
