The 7,107 islands of the Pearl of the Orient Seas boast of cultures, language, sounds, and sights that are as lively as its people
Makati City
The hottest of hotspots in the corner of Kalayaan. There’s a flavor for everyone.
Thai food is love, Thai food is life. Crying Tiger's pad thai and chicken satay will never cease to bring a smile to my face. It's not just the food that makes the heart grow fonder, though, it's the atmosphere, too. The colorful lights paired with the night sky makes for a perfect backdrop to sit down and swap stories with your friends for hours. Adding booze to the mix isn't a bad option, either.

If you want to get away from the crowd on the ground, make your way to Fyre and bask in the peaceful somewhat-serenity of Poblacion four stories above. It's a great place to take a break from the bar crawl and just relax for a few minutes. There's live music, good food, and a cocktail menu that has the weirdest recipes you've ever seen, but they're odd enough to work and make you go, "Huh. That works."

Translation: pure life. Pura Vida is the mothership of fun food and dangerous cocktails. Costa Rica rises with their array of savory meals, but it doesn’t stop there. They have a selection of refreshing tropical cocktails infused with the strongest of liquor—the ones that can knock you out if you took a swig of it on its own—and yet the alcohol taste is nowhere to be found. I only realized just how strong those cocktails were as I tried to go down the stairs when the night was over.

The name does what it says on the tin and then some! Tambai Alley refers to the Filipino activity 'tambay,' which essentially means hanging out, but this place goes beyond a hang-out spot. There are three restaurants in the roster: Tambai (yakitori-inspired food), Ebi10 (tempura and sushi galore), and Wantusawa (best oysters in Poblacion), and absolutely none of them disappoint. In Tambai, you can connect your phone to the speakers if no one's using them. That's how I got to play Beyoncé's discography all night there.

I'm gonna cut to the chase: Yalla Yalla has amazing shawarma and fries. It's the tiniest restaurant you've ever seen (I'm not even sure if it counts as a restaurant) but their food packs a punch. It's flavorful, well-balanced, and they don't skimp on the meat. The fries are on a whole other level, too. I'm pretty sure Yalla Yalla's fries have taken the mantle that McDonald's fries have once possessed in my heart. Sorry, Mickey D.
