Poison Coffee & Doughnuts

4 saves

Makati City, Philippines • Recommendation •

Get your quiet fix at the very end of Karrivin Alley. Poison's uniqueness comes from different aspects: its unique, industrialist interiors (that pairs nicely with the café name), its seclusion from the bustling city, and the damn good coffee. I love running here in the middle of the day just to shut my brain off and eat donuts in peace.

Your Local

Makati City, Philippines • Recommendation •

If you've got a friend who's also looking to cure their city-itis, have an intimate dinner at Your Local. The ambient and quite dim mood of the restaurant feels like you're dining in a vat of calmness and aromatic food. Not only is the food stellar, but the way the atmosphere is built—as if the world's volume has been turned down to 10%—makes you feel good inside.

Eskinita Art Gallery

Makati City, Philippines • Recommendation •

One of Makati Cinema Square's hidden treasures, Eskinita is the real-life equivalent of that scene from Spongebob where Squidward wanted to be left alone. Remember? The part where people keep chanting "alone" over and over? Anyways, take a gander at the local art scene and get lost in the mesmerizing portraits while completely shutting yourself off from the noise. It's a teeny tiny gallery that can double as a power bank for your brain.

Ayala Museum

Makati City, Philippines • Recommendation •

The old reliable. During weekdays, Ayala Museum is almost always a ghost town. There are multiple floors to get lost in, and even if you aren't an art enthusiast, the chilly silence is enough to make the most tired of city folk find solace. The exhibits and displays carry different genres, so there's definitely something to tickle your fancy.

Legazpi Active Park

Makati City, Philippines • Recommendation •

If you need a little (or a lot) of green, my go-to is Legazpi Active Park. You're surrounded by people with nothing but good intentions, and the newly reconstructed park will better suit your need for zen. Take a jog, have a picnic, or sit on a bench and dive into the book—this park will envelop you in its loving arms and give you the R&R you need.
