Set among the eastern rice paddies on the slopes of Mt. Agung, this former royal residence earned the name Water Palace for its maze of ponds, fountains and water features. The name 𝗧𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗮 𝗚𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗴𝗮 translates as "water from the Ganges". The first pond one encounters upon entering the site, is the highlight of the visit. The stepping stones winding among the guardian statues allow to take a tour of the pond and create vantage points to see the old carps swimming under the surface. Another pool further down welcomes visitors to take a swim. The springs that feed the pools are located not far away, gushing out from under an ancient bayan tree. The water, considered holy, is used in Hindu ceremonies. 👍This tourist spot gets very crowded during peak hours, so time your visit to avoid traffic jams on the stepping stones and the risk of taking an unplanned dip.
