Donโt let its size fool you, Taiwan is home to a 23-million strong population that keep its spirited traditions and luxurious culture alive
Taipei, Taoyuan City, Online
There will come a time in every longterm expat's life when homesickness kicks in and you find yourself craving the flavours of home. Lemi introduce to you my favourite Italian spots in Taiwan, mixed with some other hidden gems offering traditional dishes from all around the globe.
Recognized by ๐๐ข๐ฎ๐ฃ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฐ ๐๐ฐ๐ด๐ด๐ฐ, ๐๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ผ ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ป๐ผ is my favourite Italian restaurant in town. The menu perfectly balances authenticity and creativity, often giving a refreshing spin on traditional recipes. They often organize activities such as the weekend Aperitivo (the pre-dinner sip&snack I've been dearly missing ever since moving away from Italy). Recently this has been taken over by the Antico Mercato, a space for creatives to sell their crafts and where you can enjoy @congioia 's delicious homemade pastries! ๐ฆ๐ผ๐น๐ผ ๐ฃ๐ถ๐๐๐ฎ ๐ก๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ผ๐น๐ฒ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ has the most authentic, delicious (and affordable) pizza I've tried in Taipei. They keep costs low with the fast food vibes interior, and as the name implies they only serve pizza plus some appetizers like sliced hams and ๐ข๐ณ๐ข๐ฏ๐ค๐ช๐ฏ๐ช (or is it ๐ข๐ณ๐ข๐ฏ๐ค๐ช๐ฏ๐ฆ? The debate is on). Nevertheless, the quality ingredients and highly skilled team of ๐ฑ๐ช๐ป๐ป๐ข๐ช๐ถ๐ฐ๐ญ๐ช ensure you will be delivered a great pizza every time. Another great recommendation from @congioia!

Desserts which are both delicious and healthy? Yes, please. @congioia makes the magic happen with her cakes and pastries, imparting an original gluten-free spin on authentic Italian recipes. I highly recommend the sampling box for starters, which includes all her classics. Can't rave enough about the ๐ข๐ญ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐ฌ๐ช๐ด๐ด๐ฆ๐ด (traditional Sicilian almond pastry) and the ๐ฃ๐ช๐ข๐ฏ๐ค๐ฉ๐ช๐ฏ๐ข (white chocolate cake). I'm craving them just thinking about it ๐คค. You'll have a hard time believing sweets this good are actually gluten-free (and I've had a lot, and none come even close, trust me)! PAI PAI CANNOLI is a window to Sicily, and a true hidden gem in Taipei. I never thought I'd get to treat myself to ๐ค๐ข๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ญ๐ช this far from Italy. But from the flaky fried pastry to the sinfully smooth and thick homemade ๐ณ๐ช๐ค๐ฐ๐ต๐ต๐ข cream filling, every bite tasted authentic. If you're curious about sampling Italian desserts which are not a tiramisรน, or just want a delicious sweet snack, I highly recommend.
